Hello, I’m Irma Coetzer, an artist based in Ceres, South Africa.
My artistic journey began in 2018 when I attended my first art class with Hannalie Wium. That class reignited my creative passion and opened the door to a more focused journey with painting.
Since then, I have continued to grow as an artist, exploring different subjects, techniques and ways of working with colour. I also refined my skills in oil painting through a workshop with Dierdre van Staden during a visit to Zastron in the Orange Free State.
I work mainly in acrylic and oil paint. I am especially drawn to colour mixing and enjoy using the cosmic colour wheel to bring depth, warmth and harmony into my work.
My favourite subjects are portraits, animals and landscapes. Each subject offers something different. Portraits allow me to explore expression and character. Animals bring movement, warmth and personality. Landscapes give me the opportunity to capture the quiet beauty of place, light and atmosphere.
My Work
I create original paintings that reflect the people, places and moments that inspire me.
Some works begin with a face, a memory or a scene that catches my attention. Others grow from the colours, textures and emotions I want to explore on the canvas. Whether I am painting a portrait, an animal or a landscape, I try to create work that feels personal, honest and full of life.

Animal paintings allow me to capture expression, movement and character in a different way.
Landscapes give me space to explore colour, atmosphere and the beauty of natural surroundings.
Together, these subjects form the heart of my work.
